Meet the rural women that produce medicinal and self-care products, combining science and traditional knowledge in the mountains of Anori, Antioquia. Ex-combatants and rural farmers have created the brand Esencias de la Montaña, preserving and taking advantage of the variety and richness of medicinal plants that grow in this region. They are already marketing soaps, ointments, natural essences and mother tinctures throughout Colombia!
In the program En Familia, produced by Caracol Radio—Colombia’s most popular talk radio station—Judith Sarmiento spoke with Juan Fernando Lucio, PASO Colombia’s Director, and María Paz, a member of the brand La Montaña - Voluntad de Paz and participant of the Rural Alternative School (ERA) of Anorí. In this program, participants addressed the topic of decent work and economic development for reincorporation in Colombia.
The Alternative Peace Market (MERCAPAZ) is an initiative led by ex-combatants and campesinos who participate in the Rural Alternative School of Miranda, to create a fair trade venue for selling local agricultural products in the municipality of Miranda.
